Ron Greer, Founder and Chairman of the Board

When Ron Greer founded The Greer Agency in 1964, he focused primarily on life insurance. But over time, he recognized the need for benefits administration support among small businesses and entrepreneurs and expanded the company’s scope to serve these clients.

Ron began his career with Southern Life in 1957. The following year he joined the Army and served both an active and reserve role until 1964. Prior to establishing The Greer Agency, Ron held positions with Banker's Health and Life in Macon, GA and Occidental of North Carolina. He completed the Chartered Life Underwriter Program (CLU) in 1971.

Throughout his career, Ron has taken an active role in the business community, serving many diverse roles with local and national organizations, including:      

  • Henry County Board of Education (1969-1977)
  • Board of Directors: First State Bank, Stockbridge, GA (1977-2000)
  • Emeritus General Agent: Transamerica (1997-present)
  • Lifetime Member Million Dollar Roundtable
  • Board member: Henry Medical Center Foundation (1998-2006)
  • Trustee: Gordon College (2002-2006)  

In 2002, Ron stepped down as president of The Greer Agency but remained on as Chairman of the Board.  

Ron and his wife Trina live in Stockbridge. They have two children, Allen and Kay, and three grandchildren, Grace, Drew and Jack.

Allen Greer, President

Since becoming president in 2002, Allen Greer has continued The Greer Agency’s mission of providing small companies and entrepreneurs with best-in-class benefits packages for their organizations.    

After attending Georgia Southern University on a football scholarship, Allen graduated cum laude in 1987 with a BBA in Finance. He received his insurance license later that same year, and attended Georgia State University where he received his Master’s Degree in Risk Management in 1988. After receiving his Master's Degree, he joined Mass Mutual, where he worked for two years before moving to The Greer Agency in 1990.  

Allen received his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) degree in 1991 and his Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) degree in 1992. In 1995, he was named president of New-Roc Life Underwriters Association.
 
An avid golfer, Allen is president of Eagle's Landing Men's Golf Association. He also serves as a member of the Board of Governors for Eagle's Landing Country Club. He lives in McDonough, GA with his wife Karen and sons Drew and Jack.

Gene Morris, Vice President,

Government Relations

With 20 years experience working in Georgia local government, Gene Morris offers a unique combination of knowledge and first hand experience in the needs of Georgia’s cities, counties and
other governmental agencies.

A graduate of Shorter College, in Rome, Georgia; Gene began his local government career with the Henry County Board of Commissioners, where he served for 10 years and was their first Director of Human Resources. Prior to joining Greer, Gene spent 10 years with the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) and the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA), serving as field representative and personnel management trainer for Local Government Risk Management Services (LGRMS).

Gene earned his Professional in Human Resources (PHR) designation in 1995 from the Society for Human Resource Management and in 2004 earned the Advanced Certification in Human Resource Management (ACHRM) from the Georgia Local Government Personnel Association and the University of Georgia.

Active in his community, Gene has served many years in the appointed office of Henry County Historian. In the year 2000, he published True Southerners, a history of Henry County. In 2001, he received the Henry County Chamber of Commerce Community Spirit Award. An Eagle Scout himself, Gene and his wife Dody live near McDonough and continue to be involved in Scouting through their three children; Edwin, Branham and Elizabeth.

Mindy Sullivan, Director, New Business

As The Greer Agency’s New Business Manager, Mindy Sullivan not only helps clients with their coverage needs, but she also manages administrative, marketing and HR functions for the company.   

Mindy began her career at ING in 1989, where she held multiple positions during her twelve year tenure, including Agent Compliance Administrator. She joined The Greer Agency in 2002, bringing her expertise in compliance, training and business unit management to the company.  

Mindy received her Resident Life and Health Agent license in 2002 and earned her Professional Human Resources (PHR) designation in 2004. She’s active locally, serving as Executive Secretary for the Society of Human Resource Management’s Henry County chapter.

An Atlanta native, Mindy has two children, Matthew and Macy.

Bobbi Varner, Director, Client Services

As Director of Client Services, Bobbi Varner is committed to providing the highest levels of service to The Greer Agency’s clients. Known for her hands-on approach, she is always available to provide counsel and encourages clients to call whenever they have a question. 

Bobbi graduated from Clayton College and State University in 2000 with a B.S. in Healthcare Management. During that time, she served as Executive Secretary for the American College of Healthcare Executives and received the Most Outstanding Student award from the School of Health Sciences.   
 
Prior to joining The Greer Agency in 2004, Bobbi held positions in healthcare administration with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia, Covenant Administrators in Duluth and Multiple Benefits Corporation in Lawrenceville.  

A South Florida native, Bobbi moved to Georgia in 1983.  She has two children, Alex and Kaity.

Karen Greer, Chief Prospecting Officer

In the newly created position of Chief Prospecting Officer, Karen Greer assumes responsibility for attracting new clients and team members to The Greer Agency.  

Karen brings over 20 years of sales and marketing experience to this unique role. Her previous engagements have resulted in numerous honors and awards, and she brings this track record of success – along with her trademark enthusiasm – to The Greer Agency.  

Karen attended Lakeside High School and Georgia Southern University. She is an avid tennis player, and she enjoys spending time with her sons, Drew and Jack and her dog, Gigi.

Jennifer Batten, Office Manager

Jennifer Batten is known for her devotion to clients and attention to detail, both of which serve her well in her role as The Greer Agency’s Office Manager.

Jennifer joined The Greer Agency in 2004, bringing a long history of retail management experience to the team.

A native New Yorker, Jennifer moved to Georgia in 2002. She and her husband Ben have two dogs, Angel and Chloe.
